ap lang project

in ap lang, we got a project in which we have to identify rhetorical devices in poems, as well as bring the poem to life

my poem was harlem, also known as "dream deferred" by langston hughes

the poem. i sugguest reading it if you wanna understand the other parts

the idea

so my original idea was to create the word "dream" while having each of the letters represent each one of the vivid imagry that he uses

this is what it ended up looking like:

"d" would be covered in raisins, "r" would be an open sore, "e" would be the colors of rotten meat, "a" would be crystalized with honey, and "m" would be compressed under a weight

however, i didn't really like the idea because i couldn't figure out a way to incorporate the last part, the explosion

i talked with some friends about capacitor explosions, but ended up not doing it to preserve resources

in the end, i decided to just restart, focusing on the "or does it explode" line the most, as i felt that it was the most important aspect of the poem

i decided to utilize friction fit to create a lid, in which the "bomb" can hold something

i'm planning on filling the "bomb" with a bunch of bang snaps, which make a small exploading sound when thrown. i plan on just putting a bunch of them in the bomb, and shaking it up vigoriously during the presentation

gonna have to wait until monday to get the print along with the snap pops. i've been working on my macropad while i wait (updates next week?)
